The most common way of walking will be to do it without thinking about it. Your feet will move forward without any special order from your mind. You will know where to go, and your steps will take you there. How about stopping for a second and realizing how important your footsteps are! What about if your feet were on a strike! Simple things in life are so Beautiful. Being grateful for what you have! Besides being only spiritual about it, I believe wearing flip-flops is a free way of being in touch with simplicity and earth connection. If you have a chance to go to Bali, you will understand what I am going to explain to you. When you arrive to this island, you really feel the sensation of being lost. You really enjoy the view of nature and the kindness of people, but something does not really take place right away. After doing the regular tourist tours, which is Beautiful by the way; you will start to hang out on the beach and to walk to small shopping streets. Your eyes will start to get used to the environment. Your vision of Seminiak will slowly start to change. Days will past, and you will start to become someone else, or someone that you did not know about! Without fully understanding why, you will start feeling the Spirit of Bali! Your foot will walk on natural ground. Finally, the day of your departure, more exactly when you will take off, sitting in the plane, at that moment you will start crying without knowing the reason. It will feel like something is separating from you. A spiritual detachment. At that time, you will know what the Spirit of Bali is!

Every dermatologist will tell you, use sun protection.  With the sunrays becoming ever stronger it is important to wear sun protection.  Sunscreen will help protect you against getting that painful sunburn and help protect you from the sun harmful rays that may cause skin cancer.  Most of us have gotten pretty good about using sun protection on our face.  Some of us have even gotten good at applying it on our neck, chest and arms, but how many of us have gotten good at putting sunscreen on our feet?  Some of us for sure but not too many.  As we are in the business of selling flip flops we felt obligated to remind you of this.  While you do not need sunscreen every time you throw on a pair of flip flops, you may want to put it on during those very sunny days.  We recommend a sunscreen of at least level 15 block, and for a better comfort in our flip flops we recommend a lightweight non-greasy formula that is PABA free.  PABA can cause a rash on certain people as I found out when I was 14 year old.  If I wear anything with PABA I get a rash.  Neutrogena and Aveeno both make very nice sunscreens and are reasonably priced.

Many people say that our bare feet touching the earth deliver an incredible source of energy to us.  Many people do not get to experience this, as most of us are not walking around barefoot.  Flip flops are the next best thing after being barefoot for receiving the earth energy.  I   am currently reading Laird Hamilton’s book Force of Nature.  It is a fascinating and wonderful book.  In this book Laird talks about the connection to earth through our feet.  He tells us that at any given second, somewhere on earth, a lightning strike the ground about 100 times. That is 6,000 bolts of massive energy hitting the earth every minute.  Laird states, “ The ground is charged, and I want to feel it.” Many scientists and healers believe this connection to the earth through bare feet is critical to overall health and well -being.  Wearing heavy shoes all the time prevents this connection.  While going barefoot is ideal to achieve this connection, wearing flip flops is the very best next thing.  Think of the feeling you get while walking on warm sand at the beach, that wonderful feeling you get as the warm sand slides through your toes.  That is you, feeling the connection to the earth.  Walking on the sand with flip flops is not that pure connection but is still a connection, you feel the warm sand and you still feel that earth connection.  Now imagine wearing boots or even a pair of sneakers, you completely loose that earth connection.  I know that many people of this philosophy, when they cannot go barefoot, wear flip flops all the time to maintain that connection to the earth energy.  Not only are our flip flops comfortable and fashionable but they may also keep you connected to that earth energy each and every time you wear them.

With Prom season around the corner, we have received many inquiries about which flip flop to wear to the prom.  After our articles posted about the wedding flip flop we received many calls asking if the concept of the wedding flip flop could work for the prom.  Yes Yes!  The Prom is a special event in a young girl life.  Make up, hair, fancy dresses and yes those high-heeled shoes.  Prom night, like the wedding night is a long event, one during which your feet are sure to get tired.  Many girls at the end of the evening wind up barefoot just to keep on dancing, I know I did.  What we recommend is wearing a fun pair of high heels but also bringing along a pair of Loonaiki flip flops for the moment when your feet cannot go anymore.  Once you slide on a pair of our flip flops you will literally be able to dance the night away.  Browse through our women’s flip-flops and pick the pair that will best compliment your outfit.  You will still look chic and be even more comfortable than going barefoot.

For those of us that have been married and have had some form of a wedding, it is fun and exciting and very long for the bride.  So many of the brides I have known have wound up barefoot at the end of the night.  So, why not having wedding flip flops?

Summer is right around the corner and warm weather is everywhere/around the block.  Flip flops and sandals are coming out from the backs of our closets.  Ladies everywhere are looking for the best in open toe shoes.  I was excitingly going through my closet pulling out my flip flops and trying them on.  My excitement ended when I looked at the state of my feet.  My toes had been tucked in boots and shoes for the winter months.  As I arrived at the nail salon for the first of many pedicures I was thrilled by discovering a wide range of nail polish.  It seems that more and more colors come out every year.  As I walked home in my “oh so cute!” flip flops I realized I had a new dilemna:

 I quickly realized that with the super affordable flip flops I could have several pairs to go with all my favorite nail polish.  I love the way my pink toes look against my black and gold flip flops.  I am looking forward to next winter when I will get pedicures all year long!
